Here we have Caroline taking Umbo to her Welsh Class. Of course I had to have a welsh flag in there somewhere.

Umbo Goes to Welsh Class: The Armchair
This illustration features Caroline, Umbo and Bird relaxing in their favourite armchair. This final illustration was actually based on the very first image I painted for the project in order to get an idea of what it could look like. The first illustration was based on an actual photograph the author, Caroline Jackson had sent me.
Umbo Goes to Welsh Class: The Shop
For the second illustration for Umbo, I illustrated the scene of Umbo at the shop before he was bought as a Christmas present for Caroline.
I remember this was one of the more diffucult illustrations for me to draw, mainly due to the toys in the background and trying to make the shop look full enough.
Umbo Goes to Welsh Class: First Illustration
I posted a while ago about a commission I recently finished for a children’s story called ‘Umbo Goes to Welsh Class’ written by Caroline Jackson.
Above is the first of the final illustrations I created for the project and this one serves as a sort of introduction to the character of Umbo.
Umbo is a glove puppet who was a Christmas present for Caroline from her husband and the story is inspired by a real glove puppet called Umbo.
