Some more sketches from my sketchbook, this time of various statues from the V&A Museum. I always enjoy drawing statues for some reason and I think that they really help with exploring different and interesting positions of the human form and so are very helpful with composition.
Some more drawings based upon old family photos, this time mainly consisting of a family wedding. I think that the four full body images work the best out of this set and they are my favourite, mostly due to the use of ink for the body/clothing, something which I think always works best with these drawings and compliments the pencil work nicely. I got to work with interesting and challenging expressions and poses this time which is great as I definitely need more practice with expression in my work.
In June me and a few friends had a camping trip near St Davids and I thought I would share some photos of the trip as I am currently working on images based on the photographs I took. It took my a while to post these as I have had trouble transfering the images from my phone to my computer but everything is fine now. As I am currently thinking of projects to do I am also thinking of things I can draw daily and these photos have been a great help as I really want to improve on drawing landscapes and backgrounds, and this trip provided amazing scenery, from the coastal walks to the Cathedral. I will hopefully post any images I make based upon these photos soon.
I have been meaning to post about this for awhile but haven’t been able to sort out the pictures I took of the event until now. This is what I exhibited as part of my degree in the illustration degree show at Cardiff School of Art and Design which we titled ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors’. I exhibited my two books at the show as well as several prints of my work and I really enjoyed the show and gained experience in displaying my work for an exhibition. The show as a whole was amazing to see as all of the work was very varied and it was great to see the final outcome of everyone’s work.
