Doll on a Music Box

I haven’t watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in ages but did recently watch this scene and obviously had to draw it. I always loved this scene, it’s so clever and well made and the costumes and sets are fantastic!

The Albany Gallery Summer Exhibition

I’ve fallen behind again with updating my blog, I even forgot to post that I had work in the Summer Open Art Competition at Oriel Cric in Crickhowell!

One show that is currently still on is the Summer Exhibition at The Albany Gallery and I have two paintings featured there, ‘Field of Gold’ and ‘The Daffodil Picker’. The show is on until August 17th so please visit the gallery if you have the chance!

I really want to explore more Welsh themes in my work. particularly Welsh folklore, but I’ve started with these Welsh ladies surrounded by daffodils as they are big symbols and icons of Welsh culture.

I’m very excited to see the new live action Little Mermaid film from Disney and can’t wait to see Halle Bailey as Ariel. I’m curious to see how the film depicts the merpeople. I’ve seen loads of amazing art celebrating the casting and I wanted to join in.

Procreate Mermaids

I recently got myself and iPad and downloaded procreate on it. I’ve wanted to start working digitally for a while now and decided to take the plunge and created these two mermaids.

The first was created entirely on procreate will the second was a pencil drawing I had done in my sketchbook which I then coloured on procreate. I’m really enjoying this way of working so far and am looking forward to exploring more ways of working on the app.

Mermay 2019 Days 19, 20 and 21

I’ve been a bit busy at work and have fallen behind on mermay this year. I don’t know if I’ll draw something for everyday, but I may as well try as the month is nearly over.
I’ve combined three days into one for this post as they were all created using ink, bleach and pencil. I wanted to create a glowing effect for these mermaids, something I’ve also done in previous mermay challenges.
